Motorcyclist killed in collision with car in Co Cork

Postmortem at CUH to follow after biker in his 40s pronounced dead at the scene

A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car in Co Cork.

The incident took place at Lough Beg, Ringaskiddy at about 8pm on Tuesday night.

The motorcyclist, who was aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí said the driver of the car, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was uninjured.

The body of the deceased was due to be removed to Cork University Hospital (CUH), where a postmortem examination will follow.

A stretch of road around the collision site was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Togher, or any other station.
