Motorcyclist remains in hospital with serious injuries following Co Cork crash

A cyclist has been killed following a collision between a car and bicycle in Co Galway on Sunday afternoon.

The man, who was in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.

The collision occurred at about 1.30pm on the R345 near Corr na Móna. The road remained closed on Sunday evening as Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene. Local diversions were put in place.

Gardaí appealed for witnesses, including any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and were travelling on the route at the time, to make this footage available to them.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Clifden Garda station on 095-22500, the Garda confidential line on 1800-666111, or any Garda station,” a Garda statement said.

Separately, a male motorcyclist in his 20s remains in hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Co Cork on Saturday evening.

The crash happened at Nohoval Upper, Knocknagree, Mallow, Co Cork, at about 6.30pm.

No other vehicles were involved. The injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital, where his condition is described as serious.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to Macroom Garda station on 026-20590, the Garda confidential line on 1800-666111 or any Garda station.
