The six bestselling budget foundations in Ireland

Which budget foundations are bought again and again? The results are in

Faced with dozens of foundations it can be difficult to make up your mind about which ones are the best. To make it easier I did a little digging to find out the Irish bestsellers in the budget sector. If you’re looking for a new foundation try one of these. There’s a reason they’re as popular as they are

Catrice Even Skin Tone Beautifying Foundation (€8.50)

I’ll just start this by saying that Catrice foundations are amazing. I wear them all the time and the quality is very good. This is this newest addition to the range which provides fairly full coverage without looking cakey. As budget foundation appeals to younger girls and women who often have oily or combo skin, mattifying foundations are always popular in this sector. The Catrice bestseller for oily skin is ‘All Matt Plus Shine Control Makeup’ (€6.95).

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation €10.49

Sometimes long lasting foundation can look as though you’re wearing a faceful of muck. This is a foundation that stays put all day long without looking heavy. It hydrates and the finish is smooth. It’s supposed to be non transferrable but I wouldn’t take too many chances with the a new white shirt or highneckeddress.

Essence stay all day 16hr long-lasting make up. €4.79

Essence are the favourite teenage and student brand because of the price points. But don’t dismiss them or their big sister brand Catrice because of this. The formula of this long lasting base feels light and has a delicate sheen. f you have blemishes to cover up don’t use lots more foundation; get out a little brush and dab concealer over it and blend in well.

Bourjois Healthy Mix €12.99

Healthy Mix has been a huge hit ever since it was first launched. Not only does it smell fruity and fabulous it also covers extremely well. It’s very forgiving of mistakes and slapdash application. Not that I have ever been guilty of this you understand, I’ve just heard about it. It suits most skintypes and is an almost universal favourite. If your skin is dry try the serum version; that’s one that gets a lot of love from me.

L’Oreal True Match €14.99

21 shades in the range means you really will find the perfect match for your complexion. This range contains both yellow and pink tones which is quite rare in budget foundations. The top three shades we go for in Ireland are Golden Beige (3W), Beige (W) and Rose Vanilla (2C). With medium to full coverage I encourage even oily girls to try this out. You’ll find this foundation gives your skin a luminous sheen and it really lasts.

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid €11.99

Again another liquid foundation wins the day here and it’s interesting to see that Irish women have stepped well away from the Pan Stick and mousse formulas of the past. We are however still suckers for full coverage and this foundation provides that. It has a light feeling, a glowy finish and minimises the effect of pores. It’s not one for oily skin though, it will sit more comfortably on normal skin.
