Aisling on Beauty: 5 super serums to rescue mature skin

Most women with mature skin are probably used to a skincare routine consisting of cleanser and moisturiser along with the occasional face mask. Recently, I’ve had a few queries from women asking whether they really need to add serum to their routine or if it’s just a marketing scam to get them to spend more money.

I am pro-serum, with the caveat that it has to be a good one full of concentrated ingredients. Put it on after cleansing and wait a couple of minutes for it to sink in before putting on moisturiser.

A well-priced product incorporating skin-repairing ingredient called Pro-Retinol. Also doubles as a moisturiser. Best for: Those who want to try a Pro-Retinol product at a decent price.

Rough, flaky skin is something that comes with age, as cell turnover slows down. This serum sweeps away dead skin cells and smooths skin in the gentlest way possible. Best for: Those who feel their skin is getting rougher with age and who want to avoid scrubs.
