Chillingo, the maker of Cut the Rope, understands the power of simplicity. Like last year's hit, Blobsterhas an appealingly high-concept premise: transport a brightly coloured blob (with sweetly expressive eyes) from one side of a level to another. You can choose to tilt your device or tap it to move Blobster (a red, soft-cornered triangle) left or right, and you can stretch and catapult him around by dragging your finger across his cute face. The object is not just to survive, but to solve puzzles and accumulate as much power-ups and points as possible. As Blobster collects certain items, he grows in size and can increase his jump distance. Some might consider Blobstera might twee, but gameplay is king, and this is a charming, deceptively simple 2D platform game. Also, it looks funny when Blobster is sucked into an undersized pipe!
