Ryanair to close Aberdeen route

Ryanair is to close its Aberdeen-Dublin route from next month.

Ryanair is to close its Aberdeen-Dublin route from next month.

The budget airline said the decision follows the British Airport Authority ((BAA)'s refusal to extend its low cost on deal on the route.

Ryanair's last flight to Aberdeen from Dublin will depart on October 28th. Any passengers with bookings after that date will receive automatic refunds.

Ryanair's Stephen McNamara said that the airline regrets the "forced closure" of the route. He said the BAA had failed to match the competitive cost deals which are available to Ryanair from other UK and European airports.

Last month Ryanair announced it was to end its flights from Dublin to Cork and Kerry airports. The airline said it was ceasing the Dublin-Cork service – the only commercial flight link between the two cities – from October 30th because of a "marked decline” on traffic on the route.
