Lufthansa Dublin flights hit by strike action

Airline cancels hundreds of flights as unions reject pay freeeze

Airline Lufthansa cancelled over 500 flights today as German union Verdi goes on strike over a pay dispute.

More than 33,000 workers will take part in the five hour strike from 4am to 9am ahead of continuing talks tomorrow.

The Dublin-Frankfurt route has been affected and the 5.30am flight to Frankfurt was cancelled this morning, though no further cancellations are expected.

Unions are demanding a 5.2 per cent wage increase for workers as airlines cut costs to counter rising fuel prices.
