SENIOR RYANAIR staff are believed to have met representatives of Chinese aircraft maker Comac in Dublin yesterday for early-stage talks on an aircraft order. Ryanair is keen to explore an alternative to current supplier Boeing and has held talks with Russian makers, too.

AER LINGUS celebrates its 75th anniversary on May 27th and has lined up a few events to mark the occasion.
On the day itself, a handful of flights in an Iolar aircraft dating from the 1930s will take off, with Taoiseach Enda Kenny on the guest list.
A black-tie event has also been arranged for Farmleigh, while a staff celebration is planned for the following night in Hangar Six at Dublin airport.
A book has been published on the airline’s history.

CONOR McCARTHY tells me that Dublin Aerospace will make a “modest profit” in the year to the end of September. It recorded a deficit of €2.1 million in its first 18 months of operation up to the end of last September.
“We are ahead of our plan in terms of customers and staff numbers,” McCarthy said.
A capital investment of €5 million will be made this year in its facilities. It employed 220 staff in the peak winter season and a profit-sharing scheme boosted salaries by 15 per cent, he said.
