Cityjet appoints Cathal O’Connell as commercial director

BMI Regional chief executive, Cathal O'Connell, is joining Cityjet as commercial director.

The airline announced on Friday that it is appointing Mr O'Connell as commercial director and Patrick Lukan as vice president sales and distribution.

Mr O'Connell joins from BMI Regional where he served as chief executive from 2013. Previous to that he worked at Aer Lingus, Stobart Air and Eastern Airways.

Mr Lukan was chief commercial officer at Cityjet. In his new role he will oversee its sales and distribution activities from its new London offices.

The airline's founder and executive chairman, Pat Byrne, said that re-establishing a full-time presence in London, from where it serves 12 destinations, was essential.

He added that Mr O’Connell brings a wealth of experience to the company.
