Anheuser-Busch InBev has proposed a series of concessions in an effort to convince US regulators to approve its $20 billion offer to take full control of Grupo Modelo, the Mexican brewer.

The world’s largest brewer by sales has offered to sell a high-tech brewery in Mexico and offload its US perpetual rights over the Corona and Modelo beer brands in response to the US department of justice’s lawsuit to prevent the takeover on antitrust grounds.

The move addresses the biggest concerns raised by the US government, which is now expected to withdraw its lawsuit and issue a consent decree, blessing the much awaited deal.

According to one person close to the Leuven-based brewer, AB InBev has closely negotiated the deal with the US regulator behind closed doors. – Copyright The Financial Times Limited 2013
