Tony Martin to appeal Noble Emperor fine and suspension

Trainer Tony Martin will appeal the €3,000 fine, and the 60 day suspension handed out to the JP McManus owned horse, Noble Emperor, under 'non-trier' rules at Limerick on Sunday.

Former champion jockey Barry Geraghty is also appealing the 30 day ban he received for his ride on Noble Emperor who finished runner up to Velocity Boy in a handicap hurdle. All the penalties were imposed under the Turf Club's Rule 212.

In December, Martin successfully appealed the penalties imposed under the same ‘non-trier’ rules by Fairyhouse stewards who had banned Bobbie’s Diamond from racing for 30 days and fined the trainer €1,000 after a running-and-riding enquiry.

The appeals were granted after new veterinary advice not available to the raceday stewards came to light.
