Belisarius can make it third time lucky

End-of-season juvenile maidens at Navan have a habit of throwing up future high-class stars and the Derby entry Belisarius can come up trumps at the third attempt for Aidan O’Brien’s Ballydoyle team this afternoon.

An unlucky fifth on his Gowran debut, Belisarius looked very green on his second start over today's course and distance earlier this month when scrubbed along from some way out but then finished best of all to go down by just a length to Ebasani.

He is joined by another son of Montjeu in Adjusted today but Joseph O’Brien sides with the exposed colt who can make the most of his experience now.

Quick Jack looks to stand out in the concluding handicap. A winner over a mile and a half at Newmarket in August, the Tony Martin -trained horse dropped back to nine furlongs at Listowel and ran a fine second to Rich Coast in a Premier Handicap.

Look onerous
Rich Coast won a Listed race at Cork last Saturday so Quick Jack's 2lb subsequent hike in the ratings doesn't look onerous now that he is back at a longer trip.

Dermot Weld drops Bush Pilot back to six furlongs today after his commendable fourth at a mile to the Racing Post Trophy hope Century last time out.

Golden Amber stays at six though on the back of a third to Sparrow and may be a better value option.
