A digital way-finder, a keyring that can open anything and an indispensable inflatable tub

Bushnell BackTrack Finding the way back to your car, hotel, campsite or even your beach towel couldn’t be simpler than with Bushnell’s BackTrack. It’s got only two buttons and can log three points. You mark the location you want to return to and walk away. Afterwards the BackTrack’s GPS will tell you the distance back and direction, and can operate separately as a digital compass. But frankly, if you can use a compass sufficiently well, you probably won’t need one of these. Takes two AAA batteries. €68 from amazon.co.uk

Ringtool This has arrived courtesy of a crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign, and it’s easy to see the attraction. The Ringtool is a well-designed multitool with the cool, pared-back styling to sit comfortably on any key ring. The 3-8mm hex heads, flat and Phillips screwdrivers, pair of spokes wrenches and a Torx (star) head target cyclists. But thanks to the bottle opener, the rest of us can get all MacGyver too. Made from tempered stainless steel, its makers say it’s nearly indestructible. $28 from reductivist.com
