Chips down as Las Vegas income slips

Soaring fuel and food costs are hitting gambling tourism in the US. Las Vegas Strip casinos have reported a drop in revenue of $524 million (€342 million) for April, the fourth consecutive monthly decline. Gambling revenue for all of Nevada dropped 5 per cent, to $1 billion, in April, according to the state's Gaming Control Board. Proceeds for Clark County, which includes downtown Las Vegas as well as the Strip, slipped 4.8 per cent, to $850 million.

Rough Guides is to publish an updated version of its guide to the iPhone.

The original Rough Guide to the iPhone, published in September 2007, hit the shelves before the first incarnation of Apple's gadget even went on sale in Ireland. The new edition has been prompted by the success of the first guide and by the dramatic reduction in price of the new, 3G version of the iPhone.
