In the late-1970s, the late jazzman Humphrey Lyttelton was performing at the Belfast Festival and had to play his trumpet for the British army at the security gates at Aldergrove to prove he was a trumpet-player. This is one of many memories excavated for an anthology project being put together for the 50th anniversary of the festival this autumn. Send your memories of the festival to festivalanthology@qub.ac.uk, or see belfastfestival.com
