Rush brings five of Disney and Pixar’s best animation films to the Kinect – Cars, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Up – all in one game. Well, it’s really a series of mini-games. Rush doesn’t copy the films, but uses their events as a setting for new games. It’s a good decision on the part of the developers; you get a peek at new elements that you won’t have seen on the big screen, and regurgitating the storylines from the films would have been beyond dull at this stage. You start by scanning yourself into the game and creating your avatar. That will change depending on whether you’re in the park or one of the five game worlds, meaning you can be superhero, a rat, a car, a toy and so on. The game is completely controlled by Kinect. Even when you’re in the amusement park, your avatar walks by you pumping your arms and legs, and changes direction as you turn your shoulders. For the most part it’s responsive enough, allowing you to chase down Mr Fredrickson’s house, take on Syndrome’s robots, or race through the streets of Tokyo.
